Miguel Tejada - Back to Baltimore?

Good Afternoon Baltimore! The sun is shining and the birds are singing, everything is alright in Camden Yards. Why is it so glorious in Baltimore? The former Orioles All Star Miguel Tejada has been said to have accepted a preliminary deal to rejoin his former team. All Miguel has to do now is pass his impending physical.

After batting around with the Houston Astro's for two years, Tejada decided that a return to Baltimore would be his next step. Although moving back to his former team of four years would have fans believe he would be familiar with his surroundings, he won't be playing at the same position in the infield as he did for the past 13 years of his illustrious career. Having accepted the deal, Tejada will be forced to play more to the left side of the infield at 3rd base rather than playing at Shortstop.

Miguel Tejada, an AL MVP with the 2002 Oakland Athletics, has also been voted an All-Star of the American League four times and an All-Star of the National League twice totaling a whopping six times. Tejada has received the Silver Slugger award, given to the best overall offensive player at each position in both the American and National Leagues, twice in his career. Overall, Tejada is a .289 hitter with 285 homers over 7,320 at-bats.

"We have made, just recently, significant progress," president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said during Orioles FanFest. "We don't have something finalized yet, but we're confident we'll have something within a few days."

"I don't know how realistic I thought the possible acquisition was going to be," MacPhail said about signing Tejada. "We always had him on our board, but I wasn't holding my breath."
